Civil Contracts · Financial Claims · Compensation for Harm

Has a contract not been performed on time, has a financial claim stalled, or has harm occurred that calls for looking into compensation? Legal handling starts with reviewing the relationship between the parties and the documents, not with choosing a lawsuit before the facts are understood.

At Dr. Sarhan & Dr. Said Al-Risi Law Firm & Legal Consultancy, we handle civil case requests by examining the nature of the dispute, identifying the rights and obligations and the stage the case has reached, and then setting out the scope of legal work that can be agreed — whether it concerns a claim, a defence or following up on proceedings before the competent authority.

Do you have an ongoing civil dispute or a court document that needs review? Contact the office to set an appointment and outline the nature of your request.

Initial contact is for arranging an appointment only; no legal opinion on the facts of the case is given through the website.

Types of Civil Cases We Handle

Civil cases cover claims that differ according to the source of the obligation and the type of right to be protected. Not every financial claim or contract automatically falls under the civil track; the facts may require referring the matter to a specialised commercial, labour or real estate service.

Civil contract disputes

When the parties disagree over the performance of a contractual term or a delay in fulfilling an obligation, we start by reviewing the contract, its annexes, the correspondence and the parties' conduct. On that basis, we examine whether the matter concerns performance of the obligation, termination or a claim for compensation, as permitted by law and the agreement.

Civil financial claims

The case may concern an amount due or a disputed financial obligation. The review covers the basis of the claim, evidence of payment or non-payment, and previous notices or correspondence, and then identifies the appropriate path for the claim — or prepares the response if the firm is acting for the defence.

Compensation for harm

When harm occurs, we review the nature of the act, the harm relied on, the link between them and the available documents. A right to specific compensation is not established merely by mentioning harm; it depends on the legal provisions, the evidence and the court's assessment in each case.

Responding to existing civil claims

If you have received a statement of claim or a court demand, identifying the court, the subject of the claim, the procedural deadlines and the available documents comes before preparing the defence. The firm reviews the possible responses and defences through the case file.

Article (156) of the Civil Transactions Law requires a contract to be performed according to its content and what the law, custom and fairness require given the nature of the transaction. The law sets out the rules on harmful acts in Article (176), and Article (181) links the assessment of compensation to the harm suffered and the gain lost by the injured party, subject to the conditions of the text.

What Do We Review Before Deciding on a Step?

A legal decision does not always begin with filing a claim. There is a difference between a claim that may be settled, a file whose situation requires action before the court, and a request that has reached the stage of judgment or enforcement.

01

The right claimed

What is the source of the obligation or harm, and what request does the file holder rely on?

02

Evidence

What contracts, correspondence, receipts or reports are available, and what is missing?

03

Procedural stage

Is there a notice, a pending case, a judgment or an enforcement request?

04

Jurisdiction

Is the dispute civil, or does it fall under a special jurisdiction given the nature of the transaction and the parties?

The appropriate step is decided after gathering these elements, not merely from the title of the case or how it is described at first contact.

How Does Working With Our Firm Begin?

From requesting an appointment to defining the scope of work.

1

Request an appointment

Contact us via the main number or WhatsApp with a short description of your request, without sending the full file at the outset.

2

Identify the parties to the dispute

The main parties may need to be identified to check for any conflict of interest or professional impediment before receiving the case details.

3

Review the file

Once the appointment is set, the documents and facts are reviewed to identify the legal issues in the case and what needs to be completed.

4

Define the scope of engagement

When the work is accepted, the required tasks and their limits are agreed before any legal procedures begin.

Requesting an appointment does not mean the engagement is accepted. For how appointments, professional checks and acceptance of engagements work, see our consultation and appointment policy.

Documents Suitable for Reviewing a Civil Case

The papers vary with the subject of the dispute, but preparing what is available helps us understand the file at the appointment. There is no need to send sensitive documents before the firm specifies which documents are required and how to share them.

Do not send sensitive documents at first contact unless requested

For administrative arrangements regarding your visit or what is needed for the appointment, see the firm’s contact details.

When Is a Dispute Civil, and When Does It Fall Under Another Jurisdiction?

A disagreement may relate to a contract or a sum of money but still fall under a different jurisdiction because of the nature of the activity or the capacity of the parties. That is why we review the legal relationship before choosing the forum.

Under Article (11) of its law issued by Royal Decree No. 35/2025, the Investment and Commerce Court has jurisdiction over the commercial and investment disputes defined by law, excluding the administrative, labour and rental disputes listed in the text.

The Supreme Judicial Council also sets out the court’s scope and jurisdiction, including certain disputes between merchants relating to their commercial business.

Disputes under a special jurisdiction

If it turns out that the matter does not fall within the civil service, the closest area is identified when the file is reviewed, rather than relying on a description that could lead to the wrong path.

Frequently Asked Questions About Civil Lawyers

Civil matters include disputes over civil contracts, financial obligations, liability for harm, and responding to civil claims. A financial claim does not automatically make a dispute civil; it may fall under commercial or another specialised jurisdiction. The scope of work is set after reviewing the relationship, the parties and the documents.

Negotiation or settlement may be appropriate depending on the nature of the right, the parties’ positions and any previous agreements or correspondence. If agreement is not possible or not suitable, court action is considered according to the file and the applicable rules. No single method suits every civil dispute.

Keep a copy of the notification, the statement of claim and all attachments, and note the date of receipt and any hearing date or procedure mentioned. Then request an appointment to review the documents, deadlines and required step. Do not rely on a brief description of the facts or a general timeframe, as the rules vary from case to case.

Specific compensation is not awarded automatically just because harm is claimed. The legal basis of liability, the facts, the evidence, and the loss suffered or gain missed by the injured party are examined under the applicable rules. The outcome depends on what is proven before the competent authority and its assessment.

You can call or send a WhatsApp message to +968 78437373, briefly stating the type of matter and any upcoming court date. The office will identify the initial information needed, then confirm the availability and location of the appointment. Contact does not mean the case is accepted or that any legal step is taken before the engagement is completed.

Request an Appointment to Review a Civil Case

If you have a disputed contract, a civil claim or an ongoing lawsuit, you can contact the office to arrange an appointment to review your file. Prepare a short description of the facts and any procedural date shown in the documents, and the office will set out the first steps.
